In-Home ABA
A Registered Behavior Technician comes to you and works inside the routines your child already knows, in the hours your family is home.
Explore in-home careCareWorks ABA brings in-home and community therapy to families across the full length of Newport News, from Denbigh down to the Southeast Community. Our Board Certified Behavior Analysts build each plan around the hours your household is actually together, whether that means after school, in the evening, or on a Saturday morning.
Newport News keeps hours that most therapy providers quietly ignore. The shipyard runs around the clock, Fort Eustis keeps its own rhythm, and a great many parents here are asleep, on shift, or commuting during the exact block when a clinic expects them to show up. We start from your calendar instead of ours, because a treatment plan your family cannot attend is not a treatment plan at all.
The city itself asks something similar. Newport News stretches more than twenty miles along the James River, and a household in Denbigh lives a different week than one south of Mercury Boulevard. Our technicians drive the whole of it. When a structured setting would serve your child better, our Suffolk center sits about 35 miles away across the Monitor-Merrimac, and plenty of Newport News families make that trip.
Sessions Around Your Shift
After-school, evening, and weekend availability, scheduled against the hours you name rather than the hours a clinic finds convenient.
The Whole City, End to End
Denbigh, Lee Hall, Kiln Creek, Oyster Point, Hilton Village, Riverside, and the neighborhoods south of Mercury. Your zip code changes our drive, not your child’s care.
Shipyard and Fort Eustis Families
We are in-network with Tricare and most major commercial carriers, so the coverage conversation is short whether you wear a uniform or a hard hat.
One BCBA From Assessment Forward
The analyst who assesses your child writes the plan, supervises the sessions, and stays with your family. No handoffs, no starting the story over.
Center Access Across the Water
Our Suffolk center is a real option, not a technicality. We help you time the drive so the tunnel never decides your child’s therapy day.

Most families here begin at home and adjust from there. Whichever setting you start in, a Board Certified Behavior Analyst designs the program and supervises every hour of it.

Explore in-home careCoaching built for households where one parent may be on shift. We teach strategies that hold up when only one of you is in the room.
Explore parent trainingSessions at the park, the store, or wherever the skill actually has to work. Progress that only appears at a table is not progress yet.
Explore all servicesA predictable room, other kids, and a BCBA on site at our Suffolk center, about 35 miles south. Worth the drive once your child is ready for it.
Explore center-based careAsk a parent on second shift what a weekday two o’clock appointment costs them and you will hear the real answer: a shift swap, a lost hour of pay, or a session their child attends without them. That is the trade we are trying to eliminate. Our technicians come to your home during the windows you have, and your BCBA writes goals around the routines that fill them, from the after-school stretch to the Saturday morning grocery run.
Working in your home also means working on the things that matter there. Getting out the door. Sitting through dinner. Handling a sibling who wants the same toy. These are the moments a clinic can only simulate, and they are the ones that decide whether a skill survives contact with your family’s real week.
Parents here have usually been told no before they reach us. No evening availability. No technicians north of Oyster Point. No way to keep the same analyst after a schedule change. We built this program around those specific refusals, because they are the ones that push families out of care long before a treatment plan ever gets a chance to work.
What replaces them is unglamorous and effective. Small caseloads, so your BCBA has room to think about your child. Honest scheduling, so nobody pretends a Tuesday afternoon is workable when it is not. And one plan that follows your child between your living room and our Suffolk center, adjusting as they grow rather than restarting each time the setting changes.
We are in-network with Virginia Medicaid, Tricare, and most major commercial plans, and our billing team handles verification and prior authorizations on your behalf. Newport News families reach us through all three doors, whether coverage comes from Fort Eustis, from the shipyard, or from a plan you have carried for years. See full coverage details.
Not Sure Your Schedule Will Work?
Tell us the hours you have and we will tell you honestly whether we can fill them. Most Newport News families move from first call to active therapy within a few weeks.
Four steps, and only the first one asks anything of you. A care coordinator carries the rest, from the insurance call to the assessment scheduling, and keeps you posted at each stage so you are never wondering where things stand.
Tell us your schedule. Call (757) 720-0046 or use the online form and name the hours that work.
We confirm your benefits. Our billing team contacts your plan and clears authorization before anything is scheduled.
A BCBA assesses your child. Usually in your home, so the plan is built on what your child does in the room they live in.
Sessions begin. Your child starts with a Registered Behavior Technician of their own, in the windows you named back in step one.
Direct answers on scheduling, coverage, coordination with schools, and what the first month looks like.
Yes, and in Newport News that matters more than most places. Between rotating shifts at the shipyard and duty schedules at Fort Eustis, a lot of families here simply are not home between nine and five. We offer after-school, evening, and weekend sessions, and we treat your availability as a starting point rather than an obstacle. Tell your care coordinator what your week actually looks like and we will build the schedule around it.
We do. Newport News runs more than twenty miles from end to end, and life in Denbigh looks nothing like life in the Southeast Community. Our Registered Behavior Technicians travel the full length of the city, including Denbigh, Lee Hall, Kiln Creek, Oyster Point, Port Warwick, Hilton Village, Riverside, Menchville, and the neighborhoods south of Mercury Boulevard. Where you live in the city changes the commute for us, not the care your child receives.
It is roughly 35 miles, and about a 50 minute drive depending on where in the city you start and how the Monitor-Merrimac Memorial Bridge-Tunnel is moving. Plenty of Newport News families make that trip, and we help you time it so you are not sitting in the tunnel backup. Most families here start with in-home therapy and add center-based sessions when a structured, peer-rich setting would help. It is one BCBA-led plan either way. See our Suffolk center.
CareWorks ABA is in-network with Tricare, and our coordinators work with the Autism Care Demonstration regularly, so Fort Eustis families are on familiar ground with us. Shipyard families are typically covered through a commercial plan, and we are in-network with most major carriers as well as Virginia Medicaid. Either way, our billing team verifies your specific benefits and handles prior authorizations before therapy begins. Check your coverage.
With your consent, yes. Our clinicians share goals and strategies with your child’s Newport News Public Schools team so the approach used during therapy, in the classroom, and at home reinforces itself instead of pulling in three directions. That coordination matters most during transitions, whether your child is starting kindergarten, changing schools, or moving into a new placement.
Week one is a conversation and a benefits check. From there a BCBA completes a full assessment of your child, usually in your home, and builds an individualized treatment plan around what they actually observe rather than a template. Once your authorization clears, your child is matched with a Registered Behavior Technician and sessions begin, with your BCBA supervising and adjusting as real data comes in. Most Newport News families move from first call to active therapy within a few weeks. Call (757) 720-0046 or use our online inquiry form to begin.

We will not pretend the Suffolk center is around the corner. It is about 35 miles from Newport News, roughly 50 minutes down I-664 and through the Monitor-Merrimac Memorial Bridge-Tunnel. What we will tell you is that Newport News families make that drive, and that we schedule their sessions to miss the worst of the tunnel rather than sit in it.
Most families here run in-home therapy as the backbone and add center-based sessions when a structured, peer-rich setting would move a specific goal forward. It stays one plan, written and supervised by the same BCBA, no matter which building your child is standing in.
