Community Therapy
Practice in the places that test a skill honestly. Ordering, waiting, greeting, sharing space with strangers who are not following a script.
Explore all servicesCareWorks ABA works with Hampton children where their skills actually have to hold up, at home and out in the city they live in. Our Board Certified Behavior Analysts lead every plan, and for the many families here tied to Langley and NASA Langley, that plan is built to survive the next set of orders.
A child can learn to ask for help perfectly at a table and lose the skill entirely at a checkout counter. Behavior analysts call that a generalization problem, and it is the reason a program can look successful on paper while a family’s Saturday still falls apart. Hampton is compact enough that we can do something about it. The library, the shoreline, the park, and the store are all minutes from your door, which makes practicing in real settings a routine part of care here rather than an occasional field trip.
Hampton also moves. Between Langley Air Force Base and NASA Langley Research Center, a great many households here arrive on orders and leave on them. We plan for that from the first assessment, keeping records and progress data in a form a receiving provider can actually use. When a structured setting is what your child needs, our Suffolk center is about 35 miles away, roughly forty minutes across the Monitor-Merrimac.
Skills That Leave the Living Room
Sessions in the places a skill has to survive: the checkout line, the playground, the waiting room. A skill that only works at home is only half learned.
In-Home When Home Is the Right Room
Mornings, mealtimes, and bedtime are taught where they happen. Community work builds on that foundation rather than replacing it.
Built for Langley and NASA Langley Families
We are in-network with Tricare and most major commercial carriers, and we verify federal employee plans before a single session is booked.
Continuity Through Every PCS
Orders should not reset your child’s progress. We prepare the handoff early and stay available to the receiving provider through the transition.
A Clinical Record That Travels
Treatment plans, mastered goals, and the data behind them, documented as we go so nothing has to be reconstructed from memory later.

Most Hampton families run a blend, with community sessions doing the work no clinic room can do. A Board Certified Behavior Analyst designs the program and supervises every hour of it.

Explore all servicesWhere the foundation gets built. Morning routines, mealtimes, and transitions, taught in the rooms where they actually go wrong.
Explore in-home careSo the strategy still works on the Tuesday your technician is not there. Especially valuable for families managing a deployment or a move.
Explore parent trainingPeers, routine, and a BCBA on the floor at our Suffolk center, roughly forty minutes away, for when that setting earns its place in the plan.
Explore center-based careThe store does not care that your child mastered requesting at the kitchen table. There is a stranger in the way, the lights are wrong, and the cereal has moved. This is where progress either holds or quietly disappears, and it is why our technicians take sessions out of the house on purpose, with a plan and a target, not just for a change of scenery.
Hampton makes that unusually workable. Almost nothing here is a long drive, so a session can move from your living room to a park bench to a checkout line without eating the afternoon. Your BCBA picks the setting to match the goal, watches what happens when the conditions get messy, and adjusts. Parents are welcome at every one of these sessions, and most find them the clearest window they get into how their child is actually doing.
Ask any military parent of an autistic child what a PCS costs them and they will not say the boxes. They will say the six months it takes to rebuild the waitlist position, the rapport, and the plan. Progress that took a year to earn can be spent in a single move, and it happens to families here constantly.
We treat that as a clinical problem rather than an administrative one. From the first assessment, your child’s goals and data are documented so they mean something to a stranger. When orders arrive, we prepare the record early, brief the receiving provider, and stay reachable through the handoff. Our coordinators know the Tricare Autism Care Demonstration well enough to tell you what to expect before you ask. If you are moving into Hampton, we do the same in reverse and pick up where your last team left off.
We are in-network with Virginia Medicaid, Tricare, and most major commercial plans. Hampton households are often covered through Tricare at Langley or a federal employee plan connected to NASA Langley, and those plans differ from one another in ways that matter. Our billing team verifies your exact benefits and clears authorizations before your first session. See full coverage details.
New to Hampton, or Leaving Soon?
Either way, we can help your child keep their footing. Tell us where you are in the move and we will tell you what is possible.
Reaching out is the part that takes nerve. Everything after it belongs to a care coordinator, who handles the sequence and keeps you told at every stage rather than leaving you to chase updates.
Reach out. Call (757) 720-0046 or send the online form, and mention if a move is coming.
We verify coverage, free. Tricare, Medicaid, federal, or commercial, we confirm what you would owe before scheduling.
A BCBA meets your child. The assessment shapes a plan around what your child does, not what a template expects.
Therapy begins. A dedicated RBT works with your child at home and out in Hampton, with your BCBA supervising throughout.
On community sessions, PCS transitions, coverage, and how therapy sits alongside school.
It looks like therapy in the places your child already struggles or shines. A session might happen at a playground, at the library, on the sand at Buckroe, or walking through a store at Peninsula Town Center. The goal is generalization, which is the clinical term for a skill holding up somewhere other than where it was taught. Hampton is compact enough that these settings are minutes from home, which makes community work practical here in a way it is not everywhere. Every community session is supervised by a Board Certified Behavior Analyst. Explore our services.
All of them. Our Registered Behavior Technicians work with families in Phoebus, Wythe, Buckroe, Fox Hill, Aberdeen, Northampton, Willow Oaks, Kecoughtan, and the Coliseum Central area, along with the neighborhoods around Langley and Fort Monroe. If you live in Hampton, we come to you.
Both are genuinely on the table. Our Suffolk center is about 35 miles from Hampton, roughly a 40 minute drive by way of the Monitor-Merrimac Memorial Bridge-Tunnel, and Hampton families do make that trip when a structured, peer-rich setting is what their child needs. Most families here start with a mix of in-home and community sessions and add center time when it earns its place in the plan. Your BCBA owns the plan across every setting, so changing the setting never means starting over. Learn about center-based ABA.
A PCS should not cost your child their progress. When orders come through, we prepare your child’s records, their current treatment plan, and the progress data behind it, so a receiving provider can pick up where we left off instead of reassessing from zero. Our coordinators are experienced with the Tricare Autism Care Demonstration and will walk you through the transfer. If you are moving into Hampton rather than out of it, we do the same in reverse.
We are in-network with Tricare, Virginia Medicaid, and most major commercial carriers. Hampton has a lot of families covered through Tricare at Langley and through federal employee plans tied to NASA Langley Research Center, and the details vary meaningfully from one plan to the next. Rather than guess, our billing team verifies your specific benefits and confirms what you would owe before a single session is scheduled. Start a free benefits check.
ABA is not a replacement for what your child receives at school, and it works best when the two are not at odds. With your permission, our clinicians coordinate with your child’s Hampton City Schools team so that the reinforcement strategies, communication supports, and behavior plans line up across the school day, therapy sessions, and home. Parents consistently tell us that alignment is what finally made progress stick.

Our Suffolk center is about 35 miles from Hampton, roughly forty minutes by way of I-664 and the Monitor-Merrimac Memorial Bridge-Tunnel. That is a real drive and we will not describe it as anything else, but Hampton families make it, particularly once a child is ready for structured group work and peers.
Nothing about the plan changes when the setting does. The same Board Certified Behavior Analyst writes the goals, supervises the sessions, and tracks the data whether your child is at the center, at home in Wythe, or practicing a skill at the shoreline.
