Questions Parents Ask Most
Navigating autism care is new territory for many families. Here are answers to the questions we hear most often.
Applied Behavior Analysis is a science-backed approach to understanding how behavior works and how it can be shaped through positive reinforcement. For children on the autism spectrum, it focuses on building practical skills like communication, social interaction, self-care, and academic readiness while reducing behaviors that interfere with learning or daily life. Programs are supervised by Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs) and delivered one-on-one by trained Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs). Learn how the process works.
If your child has been diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder or shows delays in communication, social skills, or adaptive behavior, ABA may be a strong fit. Common signs parents notice include difficulty with verbal communication, challenges during transitions, limited eye contact, repetitive behaviors, or trouble interacting with peers. A comprehensive BCBA assessment is the best way to determine whether your child would benefit and what type of program would serve them best. Request a free consultation.
Yes. Most major commercial insurance plans and Medicaid programs in Virginia, North Carolina, and New Jersey cover ABA services for children diagnosed with ASD. All three states have autism insurance mandates that require coverage. CareWorks is in-network with many major carriers, and our intake team handles benefits verification and prior authorizations on your behalf so you can focus on your child. Check your insurance coverage.
Sessions typically last two to four hours and are led by a dedicated Registered Behavior Technician working one-on-one with your child. Activities are play-based and structured around your child’s individualized goals, covering areas like requesting items, following directions, taking turns, and building self-help routines. A supervising BCBA observes sessions regularly, analyzes data, and adjusts the treatment plan to keep progress on track. Sessions can take place in one of our centers or in your home, depending on your family’s needs and location. Explore our service options.
