Every Child Deserves a Plan That Fits
Center-based or in-home ABA therapy. CareWorks designs a therapy program around your child’s strengths, your family’s schedule, and the goals that matter most to you. Every plan is led by a Board Certified Behavior Analyst and grounded in decades of research.
The Gold Standard in Autism Treatment
Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is the most researched and widely endorsed therapy for autism. Backed by over 40 years of evidence and recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics, it uses positive reinforcement and systematic teaching to help children build communication, social, and daily living skills.
At CareWorks, our approach goes far beyond behavioral compliance. We focus on functional communication, meaningful social connections, self-regulation, and independence. Every plan is data-driven but tailored to your child’s personality, interests, and developmental profile. Whether your child was recently diagnosed or has been receiving services for years, the right program can unlock new milestones.

Structure That Builds Confidence
Our centers in Suffolk, VA and Greensboro, NC are purpose-built for children on the autism spectrum, with sensory rooms, individual therapy stations, group activity areas, and outdoor spaces that support structured learning every day.
Center-based care is ideal for children who thrive on routine, need intensive peer socialization, or benefit from specialized equipment. Sessions range from 3 to 8 hours per day, one-on-one with a dedicated RBT under BCBA supervision. Social opportunities happen naturally throughout the day, giving your child real practice with turn-taking, shared play, and communication.
Skills That Stick Because They’re Learned Where Life Happens
Available across all three service areas (Virginia, North Carolina, and New Jersey), our in-home and in-community program brings a trained RBT to wherever your child learns best. That might mean your kitchen table, but it can also mean the local park, the grandparents’ house, or the grocery store. Therapy happens where your child already lives, plays, and grows.
Sessions happen on your schedule, in the settings that matter to your family. Morning, afternoon, after school, or weekends. Your BCBA designs the plan around the routines and environments that shape your child’s day, then coaches you to reinforce progress between appointments.
Skills That Travel With Them
Skills taught in real settings transfer naturally into daily routines and family life.
Flexible Scheduling
Sessions are scheduled around your family’s routine, including after-school and weekend availability.
Family Involvement
Parents and siblings can observe and participate, learning strategies to reinforce progress throughout the day.
Why Families Trust This Approach
Applied Behavior Analysis is the most researched and widely recommended therapy for autism. Here is why families across the country choose it.
Evidence-Based Results
Over four decades of peer-reviewed research confirm that ABA therapy produces significant, measurable improvements in communication, social skills, and adaptive behavior. It is the only autism intervention endorsed by the U.S. Surgeon General.
Individualized to Your Child
No two children are the same. ABA treatment plans are built entirely around your child’s unique strengths, challenges, interests, and developmental goals. As your child grows and progresses, the plan evolves with them.
Builds Real-World Skills
ABA therapy focuses on practical skills that matter in everyday life, from requesting food and making friends to brushing teeth and navigating public settings. The goal is always greater independence and quality of life.
Insurance Covered
ABA therapy is mandated for coverage by most insurance providers in Virginia, North Carolina, and New Jersey. CareWorks handles insurance verification and prior authorization so nothing stands between your child and treatment.
Reduces Challenging Behaviors
ABA therapy identifies the root cause behind challenging behaviors such as aggression, self-injury, elopement, and meltdowns. By understanding the function of the behavior, we replace it with healthier, more effective alternatives.
Data-Driven Progress Tracking
Every session produces measurable data that our BCBAs analyze to ensure your child’s treatment plan is working. We share transparent progress reports with your family and adjust strategies based on what the data tells us.
What Parents Ask Us Most
Families comparing service models usually have the same set of questions. Here are the ones we hear most.
Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is a scientific approach to understanding behavior and how it is affected by the environment. ABA therapy uses techniques like positive reinforcement, discrete trial training, natural environment teaching, and functional communication training to help children develop new skills and reduce challenging behaviors. A Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) designs your child’s individualized treatment plan, and a trained Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) delivers direct one-on-one therapy sessions. Progress is measured through ongoing data collection and analysis, ensuring treatment remains effective and evolves as your child grows.
ABA therapy is primarily used as a treatment for Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), but the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis can also benefit children with ADHD, developmental delays, intellectual disabilities, and other behavioral health conditions. At CareWorks, we specialize in providing therapy for children on the autism spectrum, addressing core challenges including communication deficits, social skill development, repetitive behaviors, sensory sensitivities, and difficulty with daily living skills. A formal autism diagnosis is typically required for insurance coverage of ABA therapy services.
Most families begin noticing meaningful improvements within the first two to three months of consistent ABA therapy. However, the timeline varies based on the intensity of services, the child’s age, the specific goals being targeted, and the level of family involvement outside of sessions. Research indicates that children who receive 25 to 40 hours per week of intensive ABA therapy for one to three years demonstrate the most significant long-term gains. Your BCBA will provide regular progress updates and data reviews so you can see exactly how your child is developing over time.
CareWorks provides therapy services for children from 3 years through 21 years of age, depending on diagnosis and insurance authorization. Our programs are tailored to the developmental needs of preschoolers, school-aged children, and young adults across the full age spectrum. The earlier therapy begins, the greater the potential for long-term developmental gains, which is why we strongly encourage families to seek services as soon as possible after receiving a diagnosis.
Center-based ABA therapy takes place in one of our dedicated CareWorks therapy centers, providing a structured environment with specialized equipment, sensory rooms, and opportunities for peer socialization. In-home ABA therapy is delivered in your family’s home, allowing your child to practice skills in their natural environment where generalization happens most effectively. Both models are supervised by a BCBA and deliver the same evidence-based interventions. Many families choose one setting or a combination of both based on their child’s needs, schedule, and goals. Your BCBA will help you determine the best option during the initial assessment.
Absolutely. Parent involvement is one of the most critical factors in successful ABA therapy outcomes. At CareWorks, parents are welcome to observe sessions, and our dedicated parent training program teaches you the same evidence-based strategies your child’s therapy team uses. You will learn how to reinforce skills at home, manage challenging behaviors effectively, and create an environment that supports your child’s progress around the clock. Research shows that children whose families actively participate in the therapeutic process achieve faster and more durable gains.
